But the biggest surprise came when she actually she said, �yes!� Just two years ago, Martin's very British parents were proud to read in England's music press that their son was bragging about still being a virgin. Now he's marrying one of America's most sought-after sweethearts - an older woman no less. But things aren't all wine and roses with the engagement, evidently Martin isn't aware of the custom in this country that when you ask for your beloved's hand in marriage, you present her with a diamond ring that equals at least three months of your yearly salary - and for chart-topping, Grammy-winning Martin (after Coldplay's current runaway hit album, A Rush of Blood To The Head), that's quite a chunk of change.
